You CAN be 100% sure you have everlasting life, the Bible guarantees it!

Christ's death is the propitiation not just for our sins, but for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:2)

In light of the word “The Bible Guarantees it” which has been given as proof of the May 21, 2011 judgment day, I am afraid we need to examine what the Bible does guarantee, and what it does not. Contrary to what Mr. Camping says, the Bible most definitely does not GUARANTEE that the rapture is today. Post Modernism teaches that we cannot be certain of anything. Unfortunately, there are many evangelicals who have been swayed by Post-Modernism to think that belief and doubt can co-exist at the same time. In fact, today, a person who says they are 100% sure of anything is considered proud and is looked down upon. The problem is not that God does not make guarantees in the Bible. The problem is the Post-Modern mindset has permeated evangelical Christianity.

For instance, the most important, simple and basic guarantee made in the entire Bible is criticized and not believed by most evangelicals. When John the Baptist first saw Jesus walking toward him, the Spirit revealed to him, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” He did not say, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the elect,” or “Behold the Lamb of God who potentially takes away the sin of the world,” or “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of some people.” (John 1:19).  1 John 2:2 states that Christ’s death is the propitiation, or the satisfactory payment for the sins of not just some, (as Mr. Camping preached) but the sins of the entire world. He did not preach the most important guarantee in the Bible. That is not to say he did not believe it at one point in time, my point is later in life he denied it.

That means that we can really be sure, 100% sure, that we have everlasting life. It does not take a Bible College education, or a Seminary degree to figure it out either. Even a child can understand this promise. Most evangelicals do not know that there was a book of the Bible written with the express purpose to present signs about who Jesus was, in order that all might believe in Him for everlasting life which cannot be lost. (John 20:31). Over and over again we read that “Whoever believes in Him” has everlasting life (John 6:47).  Not “Whoever believes in Him can hope that he has everlasting life,” or “Whoever believes in Him has probationary everlasting life,” or “Who ever believes in Him, and waits 20 years and sees if it really makes a difference in their life has everlasting life,” or “Whoever believes in Him and keeps believing in Him until the day he dies has everlasting life.”

Isn’t that the most wonderful Guarantee you could ever have? One single moment of believing in Jesus as the granter and guarantor of everlasting life, and you have life forever.
